The main goal of this book is to help those who are studying Japanese as a second language. For this reason, the book is centered on a specific Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) level. This second book of the Japanese Kanji Mnemonics Series focuses on the next 181 Japanese characters (kanji) found on the N4 level test. It assumes the reader has knowledge of the two Japanese alphabets (Hiragana and Katakana) as well as the 103 kanji required for the JLPT N5.

I really like this book. It almost feels like I entered a "cheatcode" so i can learn kanji faster. The biggest value of this book:
- it provides good mnemonic on how to memorize kanji through association
- it provides a picture of kanji with graphic visualization that corresponds to the suggested mnemonic
- very importantly, it also groups the kanji by types, ie each chapter concentrates on Time, Nature, Adjectices etc etc
Overall, having tested several ways of study, including Remembering the Kanji & some other workbooks, i find this book to be most helpful, i concentrate on memorizing the mnemonic/visual association, I don't concentrate on memorizing pronounciation which i study separately (as per the advice in Remembering the Kanji) and I find this method to be both very effective and fun.
Many thanks to the author for this book and I am very much looking forward for N3 edition!
