JAPANESE LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TEST
(JLPT)
What is it?
The Nihongo Nouryoku Shiken (日本語能力試験)or JLPT is an international test that evaluates and certifies Japanese language proficiency for non-native speakers. The test cover knowledge in:
- Kanji
- Grammar
- Reading
- Listening
How often is the test held?
The test is held twice a year in Japan and selected countries (on the first Sunday of July and December), and once a year in other regions (on the first Sunday of December).
How many levels does it have?
The JLPT consists of five levels, and the are summarized like this:
